Great Yarmouth & Norfolk

Explore our patch!

East Anglia at her most beautiful is literally on our doorstep. Walk out of the Andover House doors and you are already surrounded by streets steeped in history! Some of us have lived in Norfolk all of our lives but are still exploring new places. There’s plenty to do but it really boils down to what takes your fancy! You can quite easily find yourself walking along the sandy shoreline, visiting the seals in Horsey, rummaging through antique shops, boating on the Broads or navigating miles of paths and boardwalks.

The Norfolk Broads is a special patch of English heritage. Breydon Water at Great Yarmouth is the gateway to the Broads and is the UK’s largest protected wetland, overlooked by the remains of the Roman fort at Burgh Castle. If your here to shop, not a problem! We are only 10 minutes walk to the Great Yarmouth town centre or 25 minutes drive to the City of Norwich. If entertainment is your thing, take a walk out of our doors and you're moments away from the beach, promenade, amusements and casino. If your here to eat good food and soak up a cosy atmosphere, there is no need to step out of our doors at all! So, after a day of exploration, come back to a delicious meal in our convivial restaurant and settle in for a good night’s sleep. Well deserved no doubt!

Greyhound racing, sited at Caister-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth has developed over the years into a major venue. Heritage Guided Walks offer a fascinating way of discovering Great Yarmouth’s history. The tales of body snatchers and life in the rows are fascinating tales to take home with you.

Jump in the car... City of Norwich has plenty of fantastic shops. We love the cobbled street of Elm Hill, Norwich Castle and the Cathedral is stunning inside. Blickling Hall, a stately home with gardens. We recommend the walk around the lake and taking a picnic blanket for croquet on the lawn.

Wroxham, hub of the Broads from where you can hire a boat for the day, eat fish & chips, shop and feed the ducks any left overs! Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens, a unique garden rich in wildlife with a network of dyke systems and private broad.

Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens is a fantastic zoo, one we have been back to a few times. Sheringham Park, a favourite of ours...a fabulous display of rhododendrons and azaleas from Spring. Find the gazebo viewing towers with fantastic coastal vistas and miles of scenic countryside paths.

Staying closer to Great Yarmouth? Great Yarmouth beach has a vast 15 mile stretch of soft sand underfoot. Absolutely beautiful and great for a morning run! Great Yarmouth Racecourse, fixtures run from Easter through to the end of October.
